A few summers ago, when sitting in one of the rooms of our house, we noticed how hot this particular room was.  We also noticed that when we left this room to go into other rooms, that they were much cooler in temperature.  We decided that installing a ceiling fan would help us fix this problem.

The room had a light in it so we had to remove it first.  With the power turned off, we removed everything from the old fixture.  Since we were working with a finished room, we had to install a brace with ratcheting capabilities.  After this was in place and secure, I put in the mounting bracket for the fan.  I read that installing an extension rod to suspend the fan would help with better circulation, so put one in.  I had to thread the wires through the middle of the rod so they could be hooked up later.

The rod was then attached to the motor.  I hooked the electrical wires to the motor by connecting the hot (black) to the black wire of the motor and the white with the white. After this was done I attached the blades to the fan.  I tightened the mounting screws to the blades as far as they could go to prevent them from coming loose or causing the fan to be wobbly during operation.  Then I put on the light fixture, made sure the chains were accessible and I was done.  The fan made a huge difference in the room and made it cooler than the other rooms!
